Muscat
Harbours, incense alleys, and a capital that still faces the sea.

A working harbour, not a stage set Muscat is still a port first. Dhows unload at Mutrah, incense is weighed by the tola in the souq, and the Hajar mountains drop almost into the Gulf of Oman. We use the city as both arrival lounge and farewell — the Grand Mosque in the morning, a slow Corniche walk before the airport run.
What we actually do here A first afternoon is never a coach loop. You settle, you walk Mutrah, you eat grilled hamour looking at the water. The next morning, if the itinerary stays in town, we take the mosque, the opera house gardens, and the small palaces of Old Muscat. If you are bound for the interior, we leave early and let the capital be a bookend, not the whole story.
